“Beppu Art Museum” opened on Nagaregawa Street in Beppu City in December 2017. It is the second art museum, following the “Kaisei Art Museum”, which opened in 2006 on the premises of the "Inazumi Underwater Cave".
Beppu City is working to build up its cultural projects. At the same time, Beppu is becoming a city of great interest in the world as the number of overseas visitors increases year by year.
The opening of this art museum is intended to be one of the newest tourist and cultural facilities in Beppu, which will further develop the city into an international tourism level. Regarding the name, we decided not to use the term "gallery" but to call it "art museum".
Our goal is to create a facility that young people, foreigners and tourists can enjoy. We mainly exhibit paintings by celebrities and works by famous artists, so that everyone from children to the elderly can feel a comfortable space with a relaxed exposure to art and background music.
The museum was relocated to Beppu Tower and renovated in March 2022.
The museum continues to maintain the "Atelier Studio," "Artist Works Corner," "Special Exhibition Room (corrider)," and "Exhibition Floor," but has now added a new "Beppu Tower Corner," which includes a historical panel and an elaborately built model of Beppu Tower.
Visitors can view over 400 paintings and other works of art from the museum's collection, some of which are also available for sale.
We hope that the museum can be used as a place of exchange for many people involved in art.
